The '''Taapeli Project''' (which is a national database of Finnish Genealogical Society) curates their own set of "Isotammi lisäosia" : “Big Oak (the mythological World Tree) add-ons” for Gramps. The '''Isotammi Project''' is a platform that coordinates validated merging of remote researcher's independent work into a collaborative genealogical collection.
This group of addons are designed to help Gramps users make their data compliant to [https://isotammi.net/ Isotammi] project. (Their server also contains tools for cleaning up GEDCOM dialects from other software.)
Isotammi users can import data as .gramps and .gpkg formats and browse it. Isotammi software is built on [https://neo4j.com/product/neo4j-graph-database/ Neo4j database], Python and [https://palletsprojects.com/p/flask/ Flask] (and increasingly [https://vuejs.org/ Vue], the progressive JavaScript Framework).
The main challenge now is auditing and merging user’s candidate material to approved data. Future plans include a live API to Isotammi. The API would allow transferring common identifiers, reference places and sources back to the researchers’ Gramps database.
The reason for competing with world-wide services is to get better harmony with Scandinavian name formats and local archives. And, in compliance with regional privacy regulations, to keep the data safely in Finland.
