→Bringing up the Family Editor dialog from the Relationship View
Your screen should look something like the screenshot.

Click on the {{man button|[[File:Gramps-spouse.png|33px]] Partner {{man tooltip|Add a new family with person as parent}}}} button(Highlight in yellow Shown with tooltip displayed above). This will bring up the Edit Family form with ''John Smith'' listed as the Father/Partner1 in the family. Had the active person been a female, the person would have been listed as the Mother/partner2 in the family. The Edit Family form is shown in the screenshot.
