Do not replace a space in the anchor ID with an underscore. An anchor defined with a space can match both the underscore and space form, but an an anchor defined with an underscore can only be referenced by the underscore form.
In a translated Glossary, add the English ID by putting an extra span around the translated header:
<code><nowiki>;<span id="english id"><span id="translated term">Translated Term</span></span>: Translated definition of the term.</nowiki></code>
