Instead of the default [[Gramps_{{Version manual}}_Wiki_Manual_-_Settings#ID_Formats|Place ID Format numbering (Pxxxx)]] for the imported places, the GOV-id will be used as the Place ID. If additional imports are performed, duplicate places (even part of the Enclosed By) will be automatically merged.

It is designed to be installed as a gramplet on the [[Gramps_{{Version manual}}_Wiki_Manual_-_Categories#Places_Category|Places Category (List/Tree) view]].
Use the [https://gov.genealogy.net/search/extended?lang=en GOV online search form] to find the '''GOV-id'''.
Enter the {{man label|Place ID to import from GOV (Historical Gazetteer):}} into the entry field and select the {{man button|Get Place}} button.
